Below are only some of the things we do for school. I’m not able to capture too many photos when we’re out and about since I only have so many hands. Don’t know how you moms with more kids than arms do it! The main program we’re following is Raising Rock Stars with Carisa at 1+1+1=1. Using that format to teach the letters, I use Erica at Confessions of a Homeschooler‘s Letter of the Week curriculum. Melody also loves workbooks, so we end up doing a lot of that too. You can read more about how MELODY’S ADVENTURES all started.

RAISING ROCK STARS

The Board – I love that Melody is so happy to see a new board up on Monday (or Tuesday) morning when we start school.

Getting Ready – Melody is trying really hard to stay on the dotted lines when she is tracing. After she finished, she said, “Look, Mommy! I made snakes.” =p

Key Cards

PowerPoint – The tough part now is working through those review verses at the end because there are 21 of them now!! For some reason, it is easier for Melody to just recite them when I prompt her rather than reading it off the screen. She loves these PowerPoint though!!

LETTER OF THE WEEK

C is for Caterpillar – She wanted to put stickers in each circle.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar graphing – Melody started out by writing all the letters of the alphabet across the top and side of the page. She was not paying attention the plum boxes and colored an extra one. So she crossed it out. And she wrote the first letter of the each of the foods next to their picture. =p

Do a Dot Caterpillar – Emily is getting good at dotting inside the circles, but she doesn’t necessarily always want to do it. =p

OTHER FUN STUFF

Reading – The book she is reading is Being Messy. haha My girls hate to be messy. Sometimes I get yelled at to put something back where it belongs.

Drawing – This week I drew some hills and a river. Melody continues to add heart balloons, buildings, and girls to the scene. Emily draws lines and circles.

Storytime Craft – U is for Up (I think…)

My Little Ponies and Ubisoft Rabbids

SISTERS

Watching Dora – Since Emily had major allergies (of the hay fever kind), I didn’t want to carry boxes of tissue with me everywhere we went to clean up her faucet of a nose, so we did a lot of DVD watching when I ran out of steam. The girls were watching Dora and went to get their new (to us) Dora and family figures. They just held the figures while watching. =p

Dora Memory – …and then we played Disney Princess Memory. We also have Arthur Memory….and another memory game at my parents’ house (that were ours when we were kids).

Schooling – Working side by side. Melody loves being Emily’s teacher too. After she does the easy reader, she teaches Emily the words. And Emily will repeat after her.

TOT

Ballerina puzzle

Animal puzzle – Emily is telling me what each animal is on the floor puzzle.

Doodling – I love all her different positions when she’s doodling. She traces her hand pretty well on there too.

Book: The Very Hungry Caterpillar
DVD: Signing Time: My Things (Emily is surprising me so much. She learned about 4-5 of the signs this week!!)
Songs: I am a C

MY RAMBLING

I don’t even know what to ramble about. This week went by in a blur. We had another red egg and ginger party to attend on Saturday. Hubby had to go into work right after that. The girls were out once we got in the car. Then, we were off to church for the talent show the youth were putting on to raise funds for their missions trip. It was a talent show/taco and nacho bar/silent auction for desserts. Emily’s allergies were acting up so we left early and we hung out at home for a few days due to all the snot that was coming out of her nose. Not fun. She snored up a storm at night too. School-wise, the girls still love that time of the day. I am still figuring out what we want to do for the next school year. Hmmm……going to an info meeting on Saturday. Maybe I will have it sorted out after that….will let you know….
