Below are only some of the things we do for school. I’m not able to capture too many photos when we’re out and about since I only have so many hands. Don’t know how you moms with more kids than arms do it! The main program we’re following is Raising Rock Stars with Carisa at 1+1+1=1. Using that format to teach the letters, I use Erica at Confessions of a Homeschooler‘s Letter of the Week curriculum. Melody also loves workbooks, so we end up doing a lot of that too. You can read more about how MELODY’S ADVENTURES all started.

We are officially starting to get into the holiday mood. There was a Christmas concert at church so we enjoyed a ton of carols. The choir was awesome, although I think Emily was more involved with the decorations. =p Other than that, it was a hohum week due to rain on and off. There is a puppet show at the library tomorrow and maybe decorating a Christmas tree with my brother as well.

ROCKSTAR

Powerpoint

Reader – Melody wanted to use the garden pinwheel flower thingie she got for Easter as her pointer. lol

LETTER OF THE WEEK

Afternoon Time – I figure you’re bored with photos of Melody’s head up close doing her work from the same angle every time. =p I will have to print out extra stuff in the future because Tot always comes over to do school too. The dotter pages are always a hit. Lacing, not so much. Emily wants to do it, but a bit hard for her.

Letter M Drawings – I drew the monkey and Melody (in a dress), and Melody draw her head and wrote the word MAP.

LETTER M PowerPoint – As we were taking photos of M items, Melody was so happy to realize that her name started with the letter M and we can take a photo of her!

OTHER FUN STUFF

Map – Melody LOVES to do anything with geography. She knows all the states already, but she’s working on learning where they are located.

Mail – Who doesn’t love getting mail? (Unless it’s bills.) I occasionally look for touristy websites to see if they have free brochures and I sign them up under Melody’s name. She is so excited to get mail, especially since it is from Washington DC (where hubby’s cousin and cousin’s wife is living right now…until they move to Thailand in January.)

M&Ms Builder – She didn’t get this at first, but I showed her to look at it by rows, and she got it. Sorta.

M&Ms Graphing – She liked this one for sure. At the end, we divided evenly among the 3 of us. No candy if you don’t have all your teeth, baby.

LIFE

Tumbling – She is practicing stuff that she learned from her ballet/acrobatics class.

SISTERS

Shapes on the Clock – Melody teaching Emily the shapes.

TOT

David Carter Books – These are Emily’s all-time favorite books. She really does love them that much.

Bedhead – After nap I put the clip in her hair, and when I put the sweatshirt over her, her hair ended up like that.

Reading – This is that booklet that I had them send Melody at American byways (what the heck are those?) and while I was cooking dinner Emily seriously sat there for 15-20 minutes looking at thing!

Lapbook – She wanted to do school like Big Sis, so I got out her Farm Lapbook.

  1. I love the idea of taking a picture of the activities all together 🙂

  2. Angela says:

School at your place must be a lot of fun! The bed head picture is really cute.

  3. That bedhead is great! I’ve never heard of David Carter books. I’ll have to google them!
